--- Job SummaryThis position transports sick and/or injured victims to and from assigned facility and various locations as needed in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols.
Ensures optimal care to patient population.
Essential FunctionsOperates an assigned vehicle in emergent and non-emergent situations and in varying weather conditions, providing safe, reliable and timely transport to a designated point of service.
Assists with patient handling and lifting using appropriate patient safety equipment and appropriate safety procedures.
Administers first aid as needed.
Maintains a clean and safe environment by adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices.
Completes and accurately inventories and inspects medical equipment, supplies and medications assigned to the department.
Inspects vehicle on a daily basis and ensures vehicle is in good running condition and scheduled maintenance (e.
g.
gas, oil, tuned, washed, vacuumed, etc.
) has been completed.
Reports all mechanical problems or concerns to immediate supervisor.

Minimum QualificationsThis position requires knowledge normally associated with completion of High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must be able to operate company owned vehicle and possess a valid drivers license and be eligible for coverage under the companys auto insurance policy with an excellent driving record.
Must be knowledgeable of the street layout and grid of the assigned locations.
Requires interpersonal skills to operate in a direct patient contact environment, as typically obtained by six months experience in related healthcare setting.
Skilled in remaining calm in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret verbal and written information/instructions and effectively communicate with others.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of medical terminology.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
